In celebration of 100 years of International Women’s Day, the Summit will focus on some of the critical areas of concern identified in the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. The Beijing Declaration identified twelve that must be addressed to achieve gender quality and women’s empowerment. The Declaration was unanimously adopted by representatives from 189 countries attending the United Nation’s Fourth World Conference on Women, held during the 50th anniversary year of the founding of the United Nations.
